And when a solution to a problem arises, the market presents options, which then compete to make the best product for the problem. Two competitors for the "Ultimate Last-Mile Solution" title have gained visibility recently, and we decided to compare them: the Pasadena-built URB-E electric scooter, and the Ray J-promoted Scoot E Bike.
Build Quality
Every URB-E is built by hand in Pasadena, California. The URB-E is built using carbon fiber and aircraft-grade aluminum parts, which reduce weight while assuring durability. Anybody can come visit the URB-E production facility in Pasadena to see where and how each URB-E is built. The Scoot E Bike Terms & Conditions page states that the "Buyer acknowledges that Raytroniks is not the manufacturer of the Products." The URB-E weighs 35 pounds, and folds/unfolds in one simple motion. The URB-E is light and compact enough to go upstairs and under chairs, and has a USB port to charge phones or tablets. Scoot E Bike weighs 55 pounds, 63% more than the the URB-E, and takes a couple seconds and some levers to unfold. The Scoot E Bike also features Bluetooth calling, in case you would like to answer calls over speakerphone as you navigate the city.Winner: URB-E
Speed and Range
The URB-E has a top speed of 15 miles per hour, and can travel up to 20 miles on a charge. The Scoot E Bike has a top speed of 15.5 miles per hour, and can travel 22-28 miles on a charge.Winner: Scoot E Bike
